A film by Debora Tamay
Originally a corporate lawyer in Australia, Debora shifted her career path to filmmaking around 2019. She quickly established herself across acting, directing, producing, and writing. Her directing credits include shorts such as Devour’d, Relic #25, Scavenga — films that explore dark mysteries and psychological undercurrents, often culminating in unexpected twists.
With Onwards, Debora makes her debut in feature filmmaking as co-writer, producer, director, and lead actor. She is also co-founder and CEO of Goldsight Pictures, the independent studio behind Onwards.
Her work often emphasises character transformation, redemption arcs, and a palpable sense of mystery. In Onwards, Debora brings these sensibilities to a high-stakes adventure mystery: a narrative about memory, identity, and the choice to unite or confront peril alone.
Debora’s work as a director is often characterized by unexpected endings, psychological elements, and dark mysterious undertones. She takes inspiration from the works of David Fincher, Quentin Tarantino, M. Night Shyamalan, Mike Flanagan, and Tim Burton.
